5/5 for fantastic U-14s!

Some well deserved ice creams for the team!

Our U14 Girls maintained their fine winning run with a spellbinding victory over an excellent St Colmans side in Shanagarry on Wednesday night.

On a beautiful evening for football, huge credit must be given to our parents and supporters for making the trip and roaring the girls on.
The girls have been great all year but went in at half-time disappointed with their first-half showing but crucially still in the knowledge that they had much more in the tank for the second half. The score at half time was 5-0 to 1-2, Clodagh Rowley with a superb 1-1 to her name.
We had girls involved in camogie matches during the day and back from school trips, so fresh legs were needed for the second half. The second half… Sin scéal eile!!!

The work rate went up and the cleverness on the ball and interplay was immense.
The points tally was rising but we were finding goals hard to come by with the St Colmans goalkeeper and fullback making stop after stop. The girls knew goals would be needed and eventually the pressure told with Aoibhínn scoring a rapid-fire two goals and Éabha (Captain for the night) scoring a great goal to add to her point.

Other scorers were Aoife, Kelly and Jane with four great points to her name. As usual, every girl played their part but special mention must go to our defense who kept St Colmans scoreless in the second half.
Led by an inspired Maya, every one of the girls stood tall in the second half. A great win by 4-7 / 5-0 and the highlight was still to come with Aoifes homemade cookies and a trip to the shop for ice cream with Terence (Tesla).

Maith Sibh a Chailínì.

St Colmans were excellent hosts and they have super players on their team. Best of luck to them for the rest of the year!

Well done, ladies!
